What's happening: The donation of two mountain bikes from the U-Turn Trust to the local Flaxmere Police.
This is the local community giving something to their local Police.
It will enable the Police to be closer to the people they work with.

What's happening: This event encourages local people to bike into work over a two week period.
Each morning a different businesses provide a light breakfast for the different riders.
There will daily and spot prizes as well as a grand prize on the last day.
Very positive event. Napier held this event in November last year and it was a big success.

Event: YRIDE YNOT? Wairoa Mayoral Challenge 2010

What's happening: Help WAIROA win this National Competition. Let's Get Behind Les - Come along with family for a fun bike ride through our town with our Mayor Les Probert. Suitable for riders of all ages and abilities. The ride will start outside the Wairoa Community Centre and finish with a celebration at Alexandra Park (beside the Wairoa Community Centre). Loads of spot prizes on the day. One lucky cyclist will win a free AVANTI bike in a lucky number draw! FREE: Entry, bike & helmet checks, snack bars, face-painting, sausage sizzle and after ride swim at the Wairoa Community Centre for cyclists. THEME: "Celebrities" - so if you like you can come dressed as your favourite "Celebrity" e.g. Elvis Presley, Paris Hilton, Lady Gaga, etc. This is optional. There will be spot prizes for the best fancy dress! You can also decorate your bike for the event.

What's happening: An Art Deco affair so rendezvous at the Sound Shell on Marine Parade on Art Deco bikes and in suitable regalia for a 'Ramble' around the hill via the pathway for refreshments at East Pier. A social event for all Deco Cyclists on Art Deco Weekend!

Event: KCC Bird Ride
Date: 7 February 2010, 3:30 pm
Location: Waitangi to Clive
What's happening: Members of Ornithological Society will guide members of Kiwi Conservation Club (children and parents) & members of public for bird watching along the cycle way from Waitangi to Clive. Bring your bike, and if you have them, binoculars and bird guide booklet.
Meet: Go along Marine Parade towards Tutaekuri river. After the last gravel pile at Awatoto Stone Works (left) & Waitangi Rd (right), take the 1st beach access road. We will meet there at the car-parking area at 3:30 pm.
Alternatively, some members may meet on the cycle-way outside the Aquarium at 3:00.
