Bike Wise Month is a nationally co-ordinated programme of events that promotes safety and biking as an enjoyable, fun, healthy and sustainable means of transport.
Bike Wise Month includes a number of events, such as:
Go By Bike Day (Wednesday 18 February 2009)
- A day on which New Zealanders, young and old are encouraged to cycle to school or work.
Bike Wise Battle (1 - 28 February 2009)
- The Bike Wise Battle is an inter-organisation competition which aims to get more people biking more often. Organisations that get the highest percentage of staff on a bike during the Bike Wise Battle are eligible to win some great prizes.
Bike Wise Mayoral Challenge (any Saturday or Sunday between 1 - 28 February 2009)
- The Bike Wise Mayoral Challenge is a national community event where Mayors from around New Zealand are challenged to see who can get the most people cycling behind them.
